"Gravity" and "Her" both took home the best film award; Cate Blanchett and Adèle Exarchopoulos tied for best actress; and James Franco and Jared Leto will have to share the prize for best supporting actor. Alfonso Cuarón won best director for "Gravity," though as might be expected, Spike Jonze, with "Her," was the runner-up. "12 Years a Slave" was its best picture, Steve McQueen best director and the film's star, Chiwetel Ejiofor, best actor. Entirely absent from both groups were ensemble films like "American Hustle," "The Wolf of Wall Street" and "August: Osage County," though "American Hustle" did hit it big with the New York Film Critics Circle recently, as well as with the New York Film Critics Online, which recognized it for ensemble cast.
